Congratulations to our Illinois and Michigan teams for their recent successes inside the courtroom.  Shareholder Joel Groenewold and Senior Attorney Gregory Glen obtained a favorable outcome in Cook County, Illinois for our client. The case involved a tractor trailer, which rearended the plaintiff’s vehicle, resulting in alleged injuries including a nasal fracture, left arm contusion, and cervical strain. The plaintiff’s demand was more than $2,300,000. Our expert testimony included a pain specialist, as well as a medical billing expert who showed some of the plaintiff’s injuries were pre-existing and highlighted the plaintiff’s long history of medical treatment. After exceptional dedication from our attorneys, their team of legal professionals, and experts, the jury awarded $347,829.14.

In Michigan, Mark Dolin, James Crocker, and their support team, obtained a defense verdict after a three-week trial. The case involved a medical facility suing KPD’s client for millions of dollars under available PIP benefits. Mark and Jim convinced the jury the plaintiff was providing illegal nursing home care and therefore had no compensable claim under the Michigan No-Fault Act. This win will serve as precedent for many clients against medical facilities who inflate billing and overcharge their clients.
