Shant R. Sagherian was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 2012. He focuses his practice on the defense of liability lawsuits on behalf of insurance companies, self-insured corporations and businesses in a wide variety of civil litigation, including Michigan No-Fault, premises liability, retail and restaurant, transportation, professional liability, home insurance defense, construction, as well as workers’ compensation.
Adept in handling Michigan assigned claims (MACP), Shant skillfully works cases that tend to be more complicated in nature, because they deal with complex issues of priority and usually involve some type of fraudulent activity and solicitation. He has significant experience conducting depositions, engaging in settlement discussions, attending and arguing at alternative dispute resolutions.

- In a recent provider suit, Shant obtained a dismissal based on concessions obtained during deposition that the subject vehicle was taken unlawfully and therefore in contravention of Michigan No-Fault statute relative to unlawful taking. The case was for $50,000 of treatment at a hospital immediately following the motor vehicle accident. Plaintiff’s counsel dismissed the suit immediately following the deposition.
- When our insured was served with a summons and complaint in a third-party auto negligence case, Shant successfully defended them. Unbeknownst to the client, the insured forwarded the complaint to the wrong insurance carrier, and as a result a default was entered against the insured. Shant was able to convince the judge that good cause existed to set aside the default, and that the insured had a meritorious defense to the underlying action. The judge set aside the default judgment in the amount of $225,000.
