Travis W. Montgomery brings to Kopka Pinkus Dolin a broad legal practice working directly with executives and managers to provide wide-ranging legal and transactional advice for businesses of all sizes and industries, including financial institutions, telecommunications providers, electric utilities, health care providers, and municipal governments. Using his experience as a high school teacher in Washington, D.C., Travis endeavors to provide clients simple and understandable explanations of complex legal issues, recognizing that when clients better understand how the law affects their business, they feel more confident in their management ability and enjoy greater freedom to focus on growth and success.

Litigation and appellate work has always been Travis’s primary focus, and he has used his skill and experience to represent clients at every stage of litigation. Travis has first-chair jury trial experience in both state and federal court and has authored or co-authored numerous appellate briefs for the Indiana Court of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court, and U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Most of Travis’s cases have involved general tort liability, insurance defense and coverage, professional malpractice, employment claims, or complex commercial disputes, and he has served as counsel in class action cases, shareholder derivative matters, and Multi-District Litigation. Travis also serves in the Southern District of Indiana’s Mediation Assistance Program, where he is regularly appointed by federal judges and magistrates to provide pro bono representation to pro se civil litigants during their settlement conferences. Outside of the traditional courtroom setting, Travis has represented management in multiple arbitration hearings, as well as clients in administrative investigations and proceedings initiated by the EEOC, Department of Labor, OSHA, and Indiana Department of Revenue.

As an attorney with Kopka Pinkus Dolin, Travis continues to expand his trial and appellate practice and to use his background in corporate and transactional law to more effectively and efficiently defend the firm’s clients in litigation.
