Congratulations to Steven Couch on Recent Success in Michigan Court of Appeals!

Farmington Hills Senior Attorney Steven M. Couch had a recent success in the Michigan Court of Appeals, which upheld a Lenawee Circuit Court dismissal of a premises liability case. In the case, Plaintiff and a friend were in attendance at a music festival. After the final performance of the evening, they were walking from the performance venue to their nearby campground. Plaintiff’s friend stepped off the lit path into a darkened, wooded area to relieve himself even though there were portable toilets at the performance site and the campground. Hearing him call out in distress soon afterward, Plaintiff entered the darkness to assist him. Plaintiff then fell into a ravine and broke her ankle. The Lenawee County Circuit Court granted the defendants’ motion for summary disposition after the close of discovery and Plaintiff appealed. Attorney Couch assisted with the case at the trial court level, and then argued before the Court of Appeals last month. Congratulations!
