Adam Sedia approaches the practice of law as both an art and a science. While legal rules provide a framework, their application is rarely straightforward. When unexpected circumstances disrupt a client’s life, Adam finds the greatest satisfaction in helping restore a sense of ‘cosmic order,’ bringing clarity and stability to an otherwise uncertain situation.

Adam’s path to the legal profession began at an early age, inspired by his father, Judge John Sedia. Growing up, he witnessed firsthand the genuine enthusiasm his father had for practicing law, which sparked his own interest in pursuing a legal career. What began as inspiration has grown into a lifelong source of guidance and friendship, with Adam continuing to regard his father as both a role model and a trusted friend.

At Kopka Law Group, Adam focuses on expanding his municipal law and appellate practices, drawing on a broad legal background that includes contract disputes, corporate matters, professional liability, and planning and zoning. He was drawn to the firm’s commitment to municipal law and its willingness to embrace his individual strengths and professional aspirations. He looks forward to building upon that foundation as he continues to expand his practice.

Adam earned his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in 2009 and holds degrees in chemistry and English from Indiana University, Bloomington. Admitted to practice in Indiana and Illinois, he has been recognized by Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America and has served as president of the Lake County Bar Association.

Outside the law, Adam is an avid writer and classical music enthusiast. He plays piano, composes, and writes poetry, fiction, and essays, with a novel in progress. His publications include volumes of poetry, short stories, and literary essays, in 2019 he won First Prize in the International Poetry Competition of the Society of Classical Poets. As a contributing editor at a Montreal literary journal, he helps shape the publication and gives other creative voices a platform.

At home, Adam and his wife, Ivana, who was born in Argentina, speak Spanish and Italian. Their son, John, started his own comic series and has turned it into videos, and their daughter, Juliana, loves all sorts of scary animals.
