Kim specializes in workers’ compensation and has successfully represented employers and carriers for more than 28 years. She has extensive experience in defending a wide variety of claims including subrogation and black lung issues. Her clients, across many different industries, appreciate her attention to detail, aggressive and creative claim handling, as well as the personal attention she provides.

Kim attended the University of Kentucky where she obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration, with Departmental Honors and then attended the University of Louisville School of Law. After graduating in 1991, she returned to Lexington and began her legal career with a local insurance defense firm, where she would eventually become a partner. In 2003, Kim opened a Kentucky office for a large regional insurance defense firm, serving first as Managing Attorney of the Kentucky office and later as a Managing Member of the firm.

Kim is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association. She is also a Member of Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) and previously served as the Kentucky Lead State Chair of the organization. Kim is a frequent lecturer on Kentucky Workers’ Compensation and is approved by the Kentucky Department of Insurance as an instructor to provide continuing education classes to adjusters.

In her free time, Kim enjoys traveling with her family and cheering her two sons on in their various sporting activities including golf, basketball and cycling. She also volunteers at her youngest son’s school and through the family’s parish.

Trial and Case Highlights
  • Kim obtained a complete dismissal of a claim offering permanent total disability exposure and substantial medical expenses by proving that the claimant was not within the course and scope of his employment at the time of his fall from a cliff, even though he was on the defendant’s jobsite at the time of the fall.
  • Using social media and other investigative techniques, Kim has obtained dismissals of multiple claims which were initially accepted as compensable and where the claimants were seeking permanent disability benefits and future medical benefits.
