John T. Eads, III, a partner in the Farmington Hills office, has handled high exposure medical malpractice and professional liability cases for the past 18 years, which credentials him to defend and evaluate intricate trucking exposures including environmental impact and major injury cases.  He also handles general liability, commercial business, employment dispute, contract actions and municipal/school liability cases.  John represents nationwide retailers such as Circuit City, Enterprise Rental Car, J.C. Penney, Meijer Stores and Pepsi defending exposures peculiar to the retail industry. 

John has taken numerous cases to trial for clients including insurance carriers, commercial businesses, and trucking companies. John has participated in oral arguments before the Michigan Supreme Court in trucking injury accident cases involving the applicability of the sudden emergency defense in single witness cases.  He successfully completed a recent third-party automobile/trucking negligence suit wherein a $3,000,000.00 default judgment was entered against the trucking company and its driver.  The case resulted in the default judgment against the Defendants being set-aside and settled at Case Evaluation for $100,000.00.  In 2007 and 2008, he successfully defended William Beaumont Hospital, its surgeons and emergency medicine physicians in several multi-million dollar jury demands (featured in DRI's "The Voice" and "Jury Verdict Reporter").  John is admitted to practice in Michigan and before the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. District Courts for Michigan (Eastern and Western Districts) and Maryland. 

He has garnered the esteemed designation of Michigan Super Lawyer (2006-2009), Top Lawyers for Detroit Business (2009) and most recently one of Michigan’s Top 25 Leaders in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly (2010).  He has been accepted as an American Board of Trial Advocates Member and a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America.  In 2005, he was nominated to join the Michigan Bar Foundation as a Fellow.  John has an AV and 5 star ratings from Martindale Hubbell and Lawdragon.com, respectively.  He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Truck Industry Defense Association.  He presents to national and regional organizations on issues pertaining to trial rules, large case exposure, mediation strategies, trucking, medical malpractice, Michigan No-Fault, errors and omissions, and professional liability. 

He is an avid coach, fan and participant in basketball, golf, hockey, and soccer.  He is a member of the Shamrock Bar Association as a Detroit Catholic Central High School Graduate, the Michigan Bar Association and he is active in community affairs such as the Catholic Lawyers, Soup Kitchens, Race for the Cure, Boy Scouts, and the Stonewater Subdivision Board of Finance.  He is married to Elizabeth and they have 3 children, Allysen (12), John (8) and Colin (5).
