BRAEDEN R. WILLOUGHBY
Farmington Hills, MI
Braeden R. Willoughby focuses his practice on a variety of insurance defense matters, and specializes in defending Michigan No-Fault coverage disputes and negligence actions which include fraudulent, moderate and catastrophic injuries and damages.
Prior to joining Kopka Pinkus Dolin, Braeden handled first and third party no fault defense litigation cases for several insurance companies, rental car companies, and self-insured clients. Early in Braeden’s career, he practiced litigation as a plaintiff’s attorney in general negligence, premises liability, wrongful cremation, dog-bites, auto negligence, motorcycle accidents, and emotional-distress claims. Having represented both plaintiffs and defendants, gives Braeden a unique perspective and the ability to effectively evaluate, negotiate, and litigate cases.
Braeden earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Oakland University. He attended law school at Thomas M. Cooley, where he concentrated his studies in litigation and graduated cum laude. While in law school, Braeden was an Honor’s Scholarship Recipient, and an active member of the Mock Trial Executive Board; he volunteered his time to the State Appellate Defender’s Office—Detroit Crime Lab Project, and served as an Associate Editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Journal. Braeden was also selected to be one of four members on Thomas M. Cooley’s National Trial Advocacy Team, where he competed against some of the best law schools across the country.
Braeden worked as a judicial clerk for an Oakland County Circuit Court Judge, where his exposure to the court system reinforced his passion for the law. It is his knowledge of the law, and the passion to fulfill the needs of his clients, that supports his ability to achieve quality outcomes.
When Braeden is not practicing law, he volunteers his time helping law students prepare for trial advocacy competitions at his alma mater. He is also an avid golfer, and enjoys spending time with his family.
